NATO secretary-general Mark Rutte visits Japan on Tuesday (Apr 8) to strengthen defence ties and work with Indo-Pacific partners to address global security challenges. Tomohiko Taniguchi, specially appointed professor at University of Tsukuba, tells CNA’s Asia Now that Japan’s industrial base creates opportunities for cooperation with NATO, as Tokyo eases defence export restrictions. Prof Taniguchi, special advisor at Fujitsu Future Studies Centre, also talks about NATO’s increased sense of
