Before his death on October 7, Hamami served as the IDF Gaza Division's Southern Brigade head. He was the only colonel taken hostage by Hamas, and the highest-ranking officer whose remains were taken into Gaza.Hamami, who was killed while defending Kibbutz Nirim on October 7, is widely recognized as
