US Supreme Court weakens Voting Rights Act protections
Știință și Tehnologie
The US Supreme Court has weakened a key provision of the 1965 Voting Rights Act, ruling that a Louisiana electoral district was drawn improperly along racial lines. Critics warn the 6–3 decision could allow states to redraw districts in ways that reduce minority representation. Democratic leader Hakeem Jeffries calls the ruling an attack on voting rights. Historian Gerald Horne says the decision undermines protections that helped Black and other minority voters representation in elections.
