Cochrane’s town council unanimously voted to write to senior levels of government to prioritize safety upgrades for Highway 11 and other northern highways, endorsing a 2+1 highway design with passing lanes. One councillor said the route hasn’t been updated in 40 years and accidents are increasing. Rallies are planned in several northern Ontario communities on Saturday.
