Matt Hancock denied that the NHS was overwhelmed during the pandemic in evidence before the Covid-19 Inquiry. Bereaved families in the public gallery held up photos of relatives who died and became emotional during evidence by the disgraced former health secretary. During often testy exchanges Mr Hancock was presented with evidence that people died because NHS staff numbers were stretched and some were denied lifesaving treatment. He agreed under questioning that the NHS entered the pandemic
