Singapore economy did better than expected, but sustaining growth will be hard: PM Wong

Singapore's economy beat expectations with a 4.8% growth this year - its strongest showing since the post-COVID rebound in 2021. But in Prime Minister Lawrence Wong's New Year Message, he says sustaining it will be difficult amid rising geopolitical tensions and a fractured global trading system. Proposals to refresh Singapore's economic strategies will be unveiled soon, with the government set to respond at Budget 2026. Charlotte Lim reports.
