Seattle (Knewz) — Despite progress since the COVId-19 pandemic began in March 2020, U.S. unemployment claims hit a three-month high, according to the Department of Labor , with 286,000 Americans applying for first-time unemployment benefits in the week ending Jan. 15. The latest increase in unemployment claims represents 55,000 more week-over-week, which is the highest number of claims since mid-October.
