Annual consumer inflation drops to 2.9% in July; slowest since March 2021

Aug. 14 (UPI) -- U.S. consumer prices rose in line with analysts' expectations in July with year-to-year inflation growing at its slowest rate since March 2021, the Bureau of Labor Statistics reported Wednesday. The consumer price index increased by a seasonally adjusted 0.2% in July and 2.9% over the past 12 months. Advertisement Dow Jones economist predicted that prices rose 0.2% for the month and 3% over the past 12 months. Core CPI, which excludes volatile food and energy prices, rose 0.2%
