Experience-led retail gains ground while consumer spending remains cautious

The consumer sector has been the main driver of the Romanian economy in recent years, supported by exchange rate stability and rising purchasing power, allowing consumers to significantly contribute to economic growth. Last year, however, consumption edged down as high inflation and eroding real incomes prompted consumers to focus on savings.
