Romania's coal production totaled 1.873 million tons of oil equivalent (toe) last year, being 2.7% lower (minus 51,600 toe) compared to 2024, according to data centralized by the National Institute of Statistics (INS). Coal imports were, in 2025, 79,500 toe, down by 120,700 toe (minus 60.3%) compared to the previous year. The dynamics of coal production and imports are expected to decrease by 2027, as other energy production capacities are put into operation, and will decrease by 11.4% and 24.5%
