Rights groups fear hundreds have been killed in a government crackdown on protests in Iran. The NGO Iran Human Rights, says it has been able to confirm the killing of at least 192 protesters, but says the toll could be in the several hundreds. Over two weeks of protests initially sparked by economic grievances have turned into one of the biggest challenges yet to the theocratic system that has ruled Iran since the 1979 Islamic revolution that ousted the shah.
