UCL eye specialist helps save sight of 24 wounded Bangladeshi students

A UCL eye specialist and a Moorfields Eye Hospital colleague were invited to Dhaka by Bangladesh’s interim government to perform sight-saving surgery for people injured by bullets in protests last summer. Mr Mahi Muqit, honorary clinical lecturer in the UCL Institute of Ophthalmology and consultant ophthalmic surgeon at Moorfields, and his Moorfields colleague Mr Niaz Islam, saw 120 patients with bullet wounds to their eyes.
