Travellers were shocked and dismayed when Ryanair announced it was slashing a wide selection of European flight routes in a direct response to rising aviation taxes. In addition to cutting routes to destinations in Italy, Denmark and Germany, the budget airline declared it would reduce capacity on 12 routes to and from Spain , reducing its total summer offerings by approximately 800,000 seats compared to the year prior.
