Common antibiotics linked to severe skin reactions, study warns doctors to choose wisely

Aug 12 2024 In a recent study published in the journal JAMA , researchers investigated the link between commonly prescribed oral antibiotics and the subsequent development of serious cutaneous adverse drug reactions (cADRs). They used long-term (20 years) records from a large dataset of elderly participants (age > 66, n = 3,257,181) who suffered antibiotic-related cARDs (n = 21,758) compared to controls that did not (n = 87,025).
