Fines warning as not enough people are buying EVs

Sales of electric cars are failing to keep up with official targets designed to see them replace petrol and diesel cards, according to new official figures. While fleets continue to invest in battery electric vehicles (BEV) the proportion of private buyers making a purchase is down from 20.3 percent last year to 17.2 percent. As a result, these full electric cars have accounted for a disappointing 16.8 percent of new car sales so far this year. This is below the figure the government requires
