(16 May 1975) On June 5th 1975 Britain votes in its first-ever referendum to decide whether to remain within the European Economic Community. The decision will end once and for all the 30 year debate over Britain's relationship with her European neighbours. The campaign of both pro and anti-marketeers, now moving into top gear, is taking place against a background of deepening economic crisis in Britain.
