Former ILVA steelworks occupied in protest at govt plan

Workers at the former ILVA steelworks in Taranto on Thursday went on strike, occupied the plant and blocked roads around it in protest at a government plan that unions say will lead to the shuttering of the facility. The unions have broken off talks with the government, saying the package it presented, including up to 6,000 redundancies, is a "death plan". They are calling for the plan to be withdrawn and a new one drafted with firm guarantees on the decarbonization of the steelworks
