The International Monetary Fund has sharply cut its forecast of US economic growth due to President Trump’s trade tariffs. It says the US will face the biggest slowdown among advanced economies with a 40% chance of a recession. The IMF says the tariffs policy will cause a “significant slowdown”, predicting US growth of 1.8% this year, down from its previous estimate of 2.7%.
