Japan records 5th straight fiscal year of trade deficits as Trump’s tariffs hit auto exports

TOKYO (AP) — Japan’s trade deficit was 1.7 trillion yen ($10.7 billion) in the fiscal year that ended in March, the government said Wednesday, the fifth straight fiscal year of deficits. Exports rose 4% from the previous year, while imports inched up just 0.5%, the Finance Ministry reported.
