Two men found guilty of cutting down famous Sycamore Gap tree

Two men have been found guilty of causing criminal damage by cutting down the famous Sycamore Gap tree, in September 2023. Groundworker Daniel Graham and mechanic Adam Carruthers worked together to fell the 150 year old sycamore, which stood next to Hadrian's Wall and featured in the film Robin Hood, Prince of Thieves. The pair each denied two counts of criminal damage to the sycamore and to Hadrian's Wall, which was damaged when the tree fell on it, but were convicted by a jury at Newcastle
