Thousands May Be Eligible for $5,000 Refund, IRS Chief Says

Hundreds of thousands of Americans could be eligible for $5,000 refunds , according to the chief of the Internal Revenue Service. IRS chief Frank Bisignano announced on Wednesday that tax year 2025 will carry forward amounts of the Adoption Tax Credit from prior years. That means a refund of up to $5,000 will be available per qualifying child. “The IRS is implementing this policy as expeditiously as possible without disrupting the current filing season,” Bisignano said.
