Hundreds of pro-democracy campaigners turned up at a planned vigil for Iran’s Ayatollah who died in a US airstrike at the weekend. The Friends of the Islamic Centre of Manchester had invited people to a candlelit vigil for the late Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. The 86-year-old cleric was killed at his compound in the Iranian capital Tehran in the first wave of air strikes on February 28.
