Father and son, 12, fell to their death in Highland hiking tragedy

A father and son died just 100 metres apart during a UK hiking trip. Thomas Parry, 49, and his 12-year-old son Richard Parry lost their lives on a trip to Scotland . The pair, from Alsager, Cheshire, were climbing the 1,150-metre peak Bidian nam Bian - renowned for its steep and rocky landscape - on 28 May 2024 when they both plunged to their deaths. Rescue teams discovered their bodies the following day. An inquest into their deaths heard Thomas had contacted his wife, Gemma Parry, at 7.35am
