Washington Post CEO Will Lewis steps down, days after a third of staff made redundant

The chief executive and publisher of the Washington Post has stepped down, just days after a third of the paper's staff were made redundant. In an email sent to staff, Will Lewis said that "during my tenure, difficult decisions have been taken in order to ensure the sustainable future of The Post" - seemingly referencing this week's layoffs - "so it can for many years ahead publish high-quality nonpartisan news to millions of customers each day".
