Filmmakers Behind IDFA Openers Talk Role of Short Documentary at Times of Sociopolitical Unrest: ‘Art Is Never About Length’

This year’s International Documentary Film Festival Amsterdam ( IDFA ), taking place in the Dutch city between Nov. 13-23, will open with a short documentary selection as a way of “showcasing the creativity and artistic range of short documentary film.” The opening shorts selection comprises “As I Lay Dying” by Mohammadreza Farzad and Pegah Ahangarani; “Intersecting Memory” by Shayma’ Awawdeh; and “Happiness” by Firat Yücel.
