Core CPI Reading Could Keep Fed on Track to Cut Rates

Underlying US inflation rose as expected in August, as the core consumer price index increased 0.3% from July. Initial jobless claims rose by 27,000 to 263,000 in the week ended Sept. 6, the highest level in almost four years.
