The health secretary has warned that soaring numbers of flu infections could "overwhelm" the NHS if a scheduled five-day strike by resident doctors is not called off. Wes Streeting said a "particularly nasty" strain of flu - H3N2 - is currently circulating at a level which is "unprecedented for this time of year".
