Thousands of ash smeared Hindu holy men lead millions of devotees to take a dip in the icy waters of the holy rivers Ganga Yamuna and Saraswati during the second "Shahi Snan" (royal bath) to mark Mauni Amawasya, the most auspicious day of the 2025 "Kumbh Mela", or Pitcher Festival in the northern city of Prayagraj. The events come as multiple casualties were feared after a barrier broke at the festival in the northern Indian state of Uttar Pradesh on Wednesday (January 29), The Hindu newspaper
