Shadow home secretary Chris Philp says Tories partly to blame for high migration

Chris Philp, the shadow home secretary, has admitted the last Conservative government failed on immigration, after accusing Labour of losing control of the UK's borders. The former minister said legal migration has been too high under successive governments adding, "it was a mistake, it should never have been allowed to happen." His speech at the Conservative Party conference in Manchester comes as at least 20 Tory councillors have announced their deflection to the Reform Party. Read more:
