A massive dust storm forced the closure of a long stretch of U.S. Highway 2 across Montana on Thursday, after emergency officials warned that blowing dust had made travel dangerous. Montana Emergency Management Agency issued an emergency message at 2:11 p.m. MDT ordering Highway 2 closed from near Dodson east to the North Dakota border until at least 9 p.m. Only emergency travel was permitted during the closure, which affects a key east–west route across the Hi-Line. Both lanes were closed.
