CDC: Young Americans get 62% of calories from ultra-processed foods

Aug. 7 (UPI) -- The Centers for Disease Control reported that American young people between the ages 1-18 receive nearly 62% of their calories from ultra-processed foods. The CDC's National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey found that from August 2021 to August 2023 , people from that age range got 61.9% of their calories from ultra-processed foods, while adults age 19 and older received 53% of their calories from such foods.
