Death by Lightning is streaming on Netflix and the historical miniseries chronicles the presidency of James A. Garfield (portrayed by Michael Shannon), culminating in his fatal shooting by Charles J.Guiteau (Matthew Macfadyen). In July 1881 Guiteau, characterised as "a disappointed and delusional office seeker", gunned down Garfield at the Baltimore and Potomac Railroad Station in Washington. The attack didn't kill him outright, but the septic wound resulted in his death on September 19.
