CES Bucharest Study: Romanians delay doctor visits, self-medicate and stop treatment early

Romanians tend to ignore pain, delay medical appointments and have an incomplete understanding of medical information, according to the latest study conducted by the BUCHAREST CENTER FOR ECONOMY & SOCIETY (CES Bucharest) in May 2026. The study reveals that 7 in 10 Romanians avoid going to the doctor even when pain persists, more than 60% say they do not fully understand their diagnosis, and 76% admit they stop prescribed treatment before completing it.
