Brigade 611, on China’s eastern coast, is part of a growing missile deployment in China targeting Taiwan as well as the U.S. forces that protect the island. In recent years, the base of Brigade 611 has doubled in size. There are new launchpads and possible dummy tunnels that may be for training. China’s leader, Xi Jinping, wants to absorb Taiwan and blunt U.S. power in Asia. His growing missile force may prove critical to those ambitions.
