A man charged last month in the 1973 slaying of a woman in Connecticut died while serving time for kidnapping and sexual assault in another cold case. George Legere, 77, was found unresponsive in his cell Friday night at the MacDougall-Walker Correctional Institution in Suffield. He was pronounced dead early Saturday at a local hospital, the Department of Correction said Tuesday. The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner said the cause of death is "pending further study." Legere, who had a
