The outgoing French prime minister has suggested that snap elections could be avoided, as the country grapples with a political crisis deepened by his own resignation. Sebastien Lecornu quit his job on Monday after just 27 days in office. He was then given 48 hours by President Emmanuel Macron to gather support for a new government.
