During his address to the 80th U.N. General Assembly in New York City, President Donald Trump expressed a sentiment that the United Nations is not “ living up to [its] potential .” President Trump is not wrong to press the U.N. to be more effective. The American people deserve a return on investment for every taxpayer dollar, including on funds we allocate to U.N. initiatives and foreign aid. Even so, it would be a grave mistake to lump all U.N. units together as underperforming or misguided.
