An epilepsy drug could be used to help people with sleep apnea, a new study has found. A European clinical trial found that sulthiame, a drug used in the treatment of epilepsy, reduced breathing interruptions in moderate to severe obstructive sleep apnea and improved overnight oxygen levels. Almost 30 million U.S. adults are estimated to have obstructive sleep apnea, according to the American Academy of Sleep Medicine.
