New Zealand's parliament was temporarily suspended after a haka broke out in the public gallery following an MP's maiden speech. Te Pāti Māori MP Oriini Kaipara's speech was followed by a planned and approved Māori song to celebrate her arrival. As it came to a close, a man in the public gallery launched into a haka and was then joined by others. Speaker Gerry Brownlee interrupted and suspended the sitting. "No, not that. The guarantee was that would not be taking place," he said.
