North Korea modernises several key metro stations in its capital Pyongyang
Coronavirus
North Korea is modernising several key train stations in its capital Pyongyang. The updated designs aim to improve daily commutes and present a more modern image of the city. The Pyongyang Metro has two lines and sixteen stations. The subway lines do not reach North Korea's newer suburbs. Despite years of speculation, there are no signs of expansion. Before the COVID-19 pandemic, foreign tourists were allowed access to the entire system, but that is now restricted.
