Italy is among the European countries with the highest rates of political interference in the media, according to an annual report on media freedom sponsored by the Council of Europe.     Italy was ranked along with Hungary, Malta, Turkey, Slovakia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, Poland, Greece, Serbia, and Romania in the annual report on press freedom in Europe published by the Platform for the Safety of Journalists.     Several critical issues are highlighted in the report, specifically
