UAE’s exit from OPEC could have unintended beneficiaries; India hoping for cheaper oil in long run

India could be among the countries that will benefit from the UAE’s exit from the Organisation of Petroleum Exporting Countries. OPEC rules cap the production quota of member states. But from 1st May, those rules will no longer apply to the UAE - meaning the gulf nation could ramp up its oil production. However, the war in West Asia and the resulting shipping risks could still loom large over India’s hopes. Ishan Garg reports from New Delhi.
