Israel started a long-threatened push into the heart of Gaza City after US President Donald Trump’s top diplomat warned Hamas there’s a “very short window” for negotiations to end the war. US Secretary of State Marco Rubio is trying to encourage Qatar to re-engage in mediation talks between Israel and Hamas, after Qatar was outraged by an Israeli missile strike on its capital.
