@rochowanski I agree, but it’s also important to get these cleavages right. A direct comparison with the Anglo-Irish gentry is not very helpful—perhaps relevant to some “oligarchs,” but not to most “Soviet Ukrainians,” who are in fact underprivileged compared to the comprador middle class.
