Some teachers are paying out of their own pocket to prepare teaching materials and other supplies that are supposed to be covered by the schools’ budgets, researchers looking at the issue have found. According to a nationwide survey conducted by the researchers, more than 70% of teachers working for public elementary and junior high schools said they experienced covering such expenses themselves in fiscal 2022. There are also teachers in Hiroshima Prefecture who said they had no choice but to
