St. John’s border protection program put on ice after anti-DHS backlash

St. John’s University and US Customs and Border Protection suspended a campus program to train students for careers in homeland security, after the backlash over the fatal shootings of two Americans in Minneapolis by federal agents last month. New York’s largest Catholic university has many graduates with careers in law enforcement, including former NYPD Commissioner Ray Kelly, who also served as US Customs commissioner under Bill Clinton.
