People across the world have been having fewer and fewer children , and it’s not always because they don’t want them. The global fertility rate has, on average, dropped to less than half what it was in the 1960s, the United Nations has found , falling below the “replacement level” required to maintain the current population in the majority of countries. Amid that historic decline, nearly 20% of adults of reproductive age from 14 countries around the globe believe they won’t be able to have the
